Social expectations
Going to the shops, having your hair cut, visiting the dentist – these are all essential life experiences that are difficult to avoid.
A TomTag visual schedule can help reduce the anxiety around these social situations which can often trigger behavioural issues for children and young people. Prepare ahead of the trip by using TomTag pictures to break down the social experience into small steps so that a child knows what to expect. Having a clear and consistent visual schedule will help reduce anxiety and decrease the likelihood of meltdowns and disruptive behaviour occurring.
A TomTag portable checklist can help children and young people identify and communicate their anxiety or discomfort about sensory distractions or stimuli whilst they are out and about.
Create TomTag picture schedules and prompts to help children understand what’s happening and how they are expected to behave at special events such as birthdays and Christmas.
